A GUARD and alert bank employees foiled an attempted robbery at the UOB branch at City Plaza in Geylang Road on Monday.
The drama began at 3.15 pm when the suspect walked up to a bank teller and handed him a note, warning 'Don't be a hero'.
It is not known what the man was demanding.
The teller quickly took the note to the back office and alerted his manager.
Cisco guard Rosli, 45, noting that the man was behaving suspiciously, decided to act.
He went up to the man, who then threatened him that he had 'only three minutes left'.
That was when Mr Roslie decided he must act quickly.
He wrestled the man to the ground. Five other bank staff sprang to his help and pinned down the man with a dark complexion.
The police were called and soon the suspect was arrested.
